Editors review
The Havahart Wireless Radial-Shape Dog Fence is the newest wireless dog fence on the market. The Havahart Wireless has made tremendous improvements in the wireless fence technology and thus is now the #1 wireless fence available.

Even though it still creates only a circular boundary like its competitor's, the PetSafe Wireless and Perimeter Technologies WiFi Dog Fence, the Havahart wireless radial fence's circular boundary is much larger at 400 foot radius which is approximately 11 acres. That's a significant improvement over PetSafe's 1/2 acre capacity and Perimeter's 2.5 acre capacity. Havahart's greatest improvements are in the categories of boundary line stability and collar response time.

Boundary Line Stability
The boundary line that the Havahart wireless creates boasts the smallest amount fluctuation among all three wireless fences available. We found that it only moved 2 to 3 feet compared to 5 feet on the PetSafe Wireless and 10 feet on the Perimeter WiFi fence. Establishing a stable boundary line is crucial to training as it presents a clearly defined boundary for your dog to learn.

Collar Response Time
The collar for the Havahart also responds much quicker than its competitor's. In our test, the collar had to retreat 9 feet before the collar stopped giving a correction. The retreat distance for the PetSafe and Perimeter are 15 feet and 24 feet respectively. This is important cause you want your dog to stop receiving correction as soon as he obeys and returns into the boundary. Even though 9 feet retreat distance on the Havahart isn't optimal, it's far better than what the
other two wireless fences can offer.

System overview
The Havahart contains many great features and benefits that make it a great wireless option. First of all, the system comes with two rechargeable 3 volt batteries. So, you can charge one while using the other. The collar contains a sleep mode. This means that when the collar is motionless, the collar goes to sleep to conserve battery power. On the downside, the collar is kind of large and would make it difficult to use on a dog that's not at least 15 to 20 lbs. The collar band can fit from 7 to 17 inches and is completely waterproof. The collar has 1 tone only level and 4 tone plus correction levels.

The control box is a very sleek-looking transmitter and is very easy to install. Due note that you can only install the control box on an outside wall. The menu on the control box is simple to navigate through and it only has two main menu options: Fence options and collar options. Two great features of the control box is that it will tell you how far the collar is to the control box at all times and will even sound an alarm alerting you when you dog is trying to breach the boundary. As with the other dog fences, the control box can only support up to two collars. The control box does not have a battery backup.

In terms of range, our field test results concluded that you can expect about 75 to 80% of what the system claims to support. When set at the maximum 400 foot radius, we were only able to attain a 300 to 310 foot radius. That also means that at 100 feet, the boundary was actually around 75 feet. We also discovered that the larger the radius setting, the slower the collar responded to the transmitter. An optimal maximum radius is 190 to 200 feet which is a little over 2 acres.

Summary
Overall, we really like what the Havahart Radial-Shape Wireless fence has to offer. If you're situation dictates that you need go with a wireless fence over a wired dog fence, we highly recommend the Havahart Wireless as the best wireless dog fence on the market.

Please note: The Havahart is currently only available for U.S. customers.
