Perimeter Technologies Deluxe Ultra (PTPCC-200D) is Perimeter's top of the line dog fence and adds adjustable frequencies, adjustable correction levels, lightning protection and twisted wire to the Basic model. As with the basic model it is a fundamentally decent system.
The adjustable frequencies are useful if you are planning to run your boundary line near a neighbor's boundary line that may interfere with your signal. Perimeter is the only company we know that offers this feature. For people with this problem this makes the two Perimeter Ultra models the only choice.
Adjustable correction levels are another useful feature, letting you change the base correction level to suit your dog. The adjustment is actually on the dog collar, allowing you to give different dogs different base correction levels. As with all the Perimeter systems, the correction is progressive so it will get higher as the dog challenges the boundary.
The lightning protection module as in all the Deluxe systems is the Panamax Max2 lightning protection module. Perimeter claims it is the best on the market, we will have to take their word for it.
Twisted wire (Fast Trac) is also bundled with the system. This twisted wire lets you create the “no correction” sections of the boundary. The system includes 100 feet, which should be plenty for most people.
Although we are not very excited about the Perimeter Technologies Comfort Fit, Wire Check, Temp Check and Battery Check features, at least they don't do any harm.
The Deluxe Ultra system is not rechargeable, which we would expect at this price point. Perimeter hopefully will change this, since they are adding rechargeable collars to their new WiFi rechargeable system.
For those owners likely to both get interference from a neighbor's system and/or have a need for lightning protection, this is a great choice. However, we find this an unlikely pairing. Those needing lightning protection tend to be in less urban areas, the exact people who are unlikely to have problems from neighboring systems. But if this does describe you this is the system to get.
