The Humane Contain X-10 fixes some of the flaws in the HC-8000 but unfortunately not the most serious ones.

The X-10's primary feature is that it uses the popular home automation protocol of the same name. This enables the X-10 to communicate with other Humane Contain devices. Most impressively, the X-10 can work with the Humane Contain dog door that automatically opens and closes when the dog approaches. This feature is actually quite impressive.

The X-10 is also rechargeable, which was one of our primary complaints with the older HC-8000 model. Unfortunately the X-10 does not solve the main problem with the HC-8000. In our experience it is equally unreliable. As such, this is a model we would stay away from.

For those interested in the X-10, we recommend the comparably priced Innotek IUC-4100. The IUC-4100 is of higher quality and a more reliable rechargeable system.
